Conference of “At The Anniversary Of Hejira Forced Migration From Legal And Sociological Perspective” was followed by a huge audience
As International Refugee Rights Association, we organised a conference under the auspices of Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs General Directorate of Immigration Management, Ministry of Internal Affairs's Directorate General for Relations with Civil Society, MÜSDAV and Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University. Conference title was “At The Anniversary Of Hejira Forced Migration From Legal And Sociological Perspective”.
Conference started with our association's President Atty. Abdullah Resul Demir’s opening speech on the dynamics of the migration flow in Turkey and the multiple aspects of migration. Mr. Demir also explained the institutional approach to regular migration and forced migration according to the Islamic foundations within the framework of the vision of the association. On the other hand, Chief of International Law and Human Rights Commission of MÜSDAV , Attorney at law Mehmet Savaş Polat, touched upon the subject of relationship between Ansar and Muhajir in the context of immigration and emigration with religious references. In addition, Ahmet Türköz, Head of Foreign Relations Department of the Directorate General for Relations with Civil Society, discussed the globality and necessity of migration through the concept of border and its historical background. Finally, in his protocol speech, President of General Directorate of Immigration Management, Mr. Savaş Ünlü examined the historical background of the phenomenon of migration in Turkey in the context of culture and civilization.
Nine different presentations in three different sessions were held at the conference, which was organized in order to comprehend the place of migration in the field of Islamic law, to call for attention to the rights of immigrants, to reveal the difference in approach between Islamic law and modern law, to understand the reasons for the migration according to the Qur'an, Sunnah and islamic jurisprudence, and finally to touch the public conscience.
Under the moderation of Prof.Mehmet Ali Kirman, Aya Altawil, Miray Azaklı and Necmettin Kızılkaya discussed the basic concepts of forced migration with religious and modern references during the first session of the conference.
Second session of the conference was conducted Dr. Harun Bekiroğlu Dr. Mehmet Onur, Dr. İbrahim A. Salkını and Dr. Ahmet Ekşi discussed the topic of forced migration with reference to Islamic Law Resources during the session.
In the third and last session titled “Immigration and Integration in Turkish-Islamic Culture”; Associate Dr. Salih Aydemir, Dr. Levent Ersin Orallı and Dr. Gökçe Ok addressed the participants. Moderator's role was assumed by the Atty. Mehmet Savaş Polat.
The conference ended with the presentation of plaques to the speakers.
